Molde Domkirke

Molde is the town and municipality to the west of the Atlantic Road and where most people will start their journey.  The settlement was formed as a trading post in the late Middle Ages and became a city under royal charter in 1742.  Today it is a modern city which still holds true to it's heritage.

As well as being known for fishing and production of tiber it has been a tourist destination since the 19th century with european royalty such as german KaiserWilhelm II.  Although the tourist industry was hit during the world wars it has now rebounded and Molde is a destination for cruise ships that travel along the Norway coast.

Molde is the hometown of former Norwegian Prime Minister Kjell Magne Bondevik .

With 15 hotels in or near Molde it is a great place to stay over night and start your trip.
