Storseisundet Bridge

The most famous bridge on the road it is also the longest of the eight bridges on the road.  Although only 280 meters long it is notable for it's unusual design which makes it appear from the angle of the road that it is a "Bridge to Nowhere", hence this is often it's nickname given by the UK newspaper The Daily Mail in 2011 website.

Technical a reinforced concrete cantilever bridge it not only arches up over the water, but also bends to one side while in mid air so as to land on the next island without requiring a sharp turn.  This turn means that the end of the bridge is not visible as you approach, as a driver would expect of a normal humped bridge and so gives the optical illusion that the bridge ends in mid air.
